Flirty Dancing is an entertainment reality show on Fox. The show is hosted by choreographer Jenna Dewan. She plays the role of cupid for single people who are looking for love, through the art of dance. The show is based on the U.K. series of the same name. The first season of Flirty Dancing premiered on Fox on December 29, 2019. It had six episodes and ended on January 25, 2020. Mike Yurchuk is the showrunner of Flirty Dancing. He also serves as an executive producer, along with Deborah Sargeant, Jilly Pearce, and Layla Smith. The host of the show, Jenna Dewan, is also a producer on Flirty Dancing.
The concept of the show is this-
“Complete strangers are taught a dance routine, then meet for the first time on a blind date at a breathtaking location, as they dance together without saying a word. Hosted by Jenna Dewan, this series is part performance, part blind date, and all about romantic chemistry. Singles will perform a different choreographed dance with each of two potential love interests, before choosing the one with whom he/she has the strongest connection. Will it be love at the first dance?”
Flirty Dancing Season 2: What we know so far
The first season premiered on December 29, 2019. The ratings of the show dropped quickly after the first episode had aired. The second episode had only 1.8 million total viewers. After consistently low ratings and viewership numbers, the show was shifted from its regular Wednesday night slot to a Saturday night slot. The last two episodes of Flirty Dancing aired as a two-hour finale on January 25, 2020.
The show had an average of 1.6 million viewers for the first season, which is the lowest in the list of Fox’s unscripted lineup. It had a demo rating of 0.41 in the 18-49 category, which is again the lowest in Fox’s lineup of unscripted shows. Following the consistently low ratings, Fox canceled the show after just one season. Flirty Dancing will not be returning for a second season.
