Focus Home welcomes Deck13 in their New Partnership

Focus Home Interactive is a French distributor and developer of videogames based in Paris, France. On 25 June 2010, Focus was reported to have purchased the Cities XL franchise from the now-deceased Monte Cristo. Focus started collaborating with Farming Simulator developer Giants Software in 2012.

In June 2020, Deck13 was acquired by the company for €7.1 million.

The French publisher Focus Home Interactive has purchased the German studio Deck13, the creators responsible for the soul-like series. The publisher in their own right via their indie spotlight project. Focus Home has previously partnered with Deck13, serving as the developer of both games in The Surge series.

Deck13 is known for The Surge series, which published a sequel to the 2017 Souls-like in 2019. The Surge 2 received a positive response from reviewers and fans, with The Surge 2 rating scoring 8/10. Deck13, is Souls-like, took what they knew from the Lords of the Fallen and enhanced it in The Surge, giving the game its own identity. Although a mixed reception was still given to the first release. The Surge 2 served as a strong upgrade and was mostly well-received. The Surge and its sequel have been published by Focus Home Interactive.

Although still a developer, Focus Home is better known as an action publisher. A Plague Tale: Innocence, the studio’s new publishing project, released to a lot of fanfare in May 2019. It scored an 8/10, with reviewer Khee Hoon Chan writing, “It’s an extremely gruesome and spine-chilling sight, one that’s going to stay in your mind hours later.”

Deck13’s new release, The Surge 2, is now accessible for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
