Directed by Shawn Levy, Free Guy is an upcoming American science fiction action comedy film from a screenplay by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn. Though the film established itself as GTA parody with comedy and action in it, Joe Keery (cast member) in an interview stated that this film may have something else underneath the video game base and characters. Ryan Renolds who will be playing the lead in the film said that “I haven’t been this fully immersed and engaged in something since Deadpool“.

The film is produced by Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Adam Kolbrenner. It is distributed by 20th Century Fox. Initially, the film was all set to release on July 3, 2020. However, the date had to be pushed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film is all set to be theatrically released in the United States on December 11, 2020.

What is it about?
The official synopsis of Free Guy goes like: “A bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game decides to become the hero of his own story…one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way… before it is too late.”
Set in the open-world video game city, the story revolves around Guy, a Non-player character who becomes aware of the video game world that he is in will soon go offline.
