The Friends reunion was originally planned for 27 May 2020. But the outbreak of the global COVID-19 pandemic made the release date impossible. The complete entertainment industry is facing disruption and the Friends reunion show is also badly affected by it.
An Executive producer from HBO MAX has spilled the beans regarding the Friends reunion release date. After initial delays the show has faced, executive producer Kevin Bright was optimistic that they can release the show by Thanksgiving. Kevin also teased further details regarding the upcoming show during a podcast.
When asked about a tentative release date for the reunion show, Kevin said “We’re just waiting. We’re waiting for a window. We feel the reunion needs to be done in front of an audience. We can’t share it after all this time.” “So, tentatively speaking, we’re hoping that the special will be completed by Thanksgiving and that the show will be seen on HBO Max at that time”, he added.

Kevin even claimed that there will be an unscripted episode where the actors will discuss their past episodes and their journey together. He was against the idea of taking the original cast and making an altogether new Friends. He said, “It’s not the putting on the old characters and doing a new version of Friends”
The special will include some never-before-seen footage, such as alternative takes of famous scenes, Bright teased.
