G.I. Joe 3 – Cast, Release Date and more Updates!

G.I. Joe is a film franchise based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe action figures and their other comic and media franchises. The films were in development since 2003 but only came to theatres in 2009. The franchise includes the film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) and G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013). Although the films received lukewarm reviews from critics, they had a sizeable box-office collection to justify the announcement of future films and spin-offs. The third G.I. Joe film was announced in 2013. It is currently in development. A spin-off film is also lined up, titled Snake Eyes. It will release in 2021.

G.I. Joe 3- What we know so far

After the release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, a third film was reported to be in the works. Jon M. Chu was announced to be returning as director of the film, although he later left the project. Dwayne Johnson is expected to return for the third film as Roadblock. Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum are also expected to be part of the third film. In May 2018, the title of the film was revealed to be G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant. It was reported that Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec were brought on as screenwriters for the third film. D.J. Caruso is reported to be directing the film. The film is expected to feature Tomax Paoli & Xamot Paoli as the main antagonists. They seek to launch a dark matter WMD that will turn their targets to dust.

The team that will be led by Dwayne Johnson’s character Roadblock is expected to feature Daina Janack, Dr. Adele Burkhart, Wild Bill, Barbecue, General Flagg, Doc, and Keel-Haul. The movie will also feature a cameo appearance by the Cobra Commander.

Release Date of G.I. Joe 3

The film was initially scheduled to release on March 27, 2020. However, with the spin-off film Snake Eyes gaining more importance, Ever Vigilant was postponed to a release date of October 23, 2020, with Snake Eyes taking its previous release date. The film has further been postponed to an unknown release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Snake Eyes took the October release date, before being delayed to 2021 as well. In all likelihood, G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant can be expected to release in 2021, sometime after Snake Eyes.
