Godfall: First Game For PS5, Gameplay, Release Date

Godfall is an upcoming action- a role-playing game developed by Counterplay Games and published by Gearbox Publishing. The game will be released on PS5 and Microsoft Windows in late 2020, it is the first game confirmed for release on the Playstation 5.

The PS5 is an upcoming home video game console developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Its launch is scheduled for late 2020. This console has a specialized solid-state device, a custom AMD GPU capable of ray tracing backward compatibility with most PS4 and Playstation VR games.

Gameplay of Godfall

The game is set in a high fantasy setting, split into the realms of Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and Spirit, where players take the role of one of the last exalted Knight’s Order to prevent a major apocalyptic event. The player has three primary Character class to select from, based which of their armor sets, Valorplates, they equip. Additional Valorplates and Augments can be equipped to customize how this character class plays out.It supports single-player and up to three players in the “drop-in drop-out” cooperative mode. The game is described as a “looter-slasher” as while based on the loot shooter concept of completing missions and gaining better loot for further quests, the focus of the combat is on melee attacks rather than ranged ones.

Development

Counterplay Games is a 75-person studio in California with several developers that had worked on other loot shooters such as Destiny 2. Counterplay engaged with Kowloon Nights to gain funding to help develop Godfall by September 2018 as a triple-A title, and avoid some of the struggles. The game’s first trailer was revealed in December 2019 at The Game Awards, where it was identified to be the first game confirmed for release of Playstation 5.

Godfall Release Date

Counterplay is yet to reveal when the game will launch, but there has been a general release window provided – Holiday 2020. This means that the game will likely launch in the later months of the year. Between September and December of this year would be a solid rough estimate – and definitely in line with the PS5’s own ‘Holiday 2020’ release date.
