Since meeting on the first season of The Golden Bachelorette in 2024 — where Vassos handed Chapple her final rose and accepted his proposal — the two have remained engaged while taking a notably unhurried approach to the next steps. Part of the speculation has long been fueled by distance. The pair spent much of their relationship splitting time between Joan’s home base in Maryland and Chock’s in Kansas, though they’ve since been working to close that gap, including Joan spending stretches of time in New York. Their most recent joint appearance, back in April, captured a busy stretch: a weekend in New York visiting Chock’s daughter in her new city, followed by a Chicago trip with some of his fellow “Golden” alums and an Easter celebration with Joan’s family in D.C.

As for the big day, there’s no need to refresh the calendar just yet. The couple has signaled they’re aiming for 2027, having decided not to overlap with their adult children’s own weddings. Between them, Joan and Chock share six grown kids — and with family milestones stacking up, they’ve made clear they’re happy to wait their turn.
