Good Omens Season 2: Release Date, Trailer, and more!

Created and written by Neil Gaiman, Good Omens is a fantasy comedy series based on his and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel of the same name. Gaiman is also the executive producer alongside Caroline Skinner, Chris Sussman, Rob Wilkins and Rod Brown.

The first season of the show premiered on Amazon Prime Video on May 31, 2019 and then on BBC Two in the UK between January 15 and February 19, 2020. Although the first season was said to be a limited series, it has been already renewed for another season. The show has received positive reviews from critics.

So, when is Omens Season 2 releasing? What is the plot? Who would return to reprise their roles? Keep reading to know further details.

Towards the end of Season 1, Aziraphale and Crowley were charged with treason by their supernatural superiors for their actions. Aziraphale was sentenced to destruction by hellfire and Crowley was meant to vaporize himself with holy water.

The pair survive their sentences and the Heaven and Hell agree to let them continue living out their lives on Earth, where it is revealed that they had swapped appearances so that their punishments no longer suited.

With the two heroes surviving Season 1, there is a more or less blank slate on which to project the events of Season 2. However, Gaiman might not know what it is yet. Gaiman has mostly spoken of his and Pratchett’s potential follow-up to the original ‘Good Omens’ novel, titled ‘668: Neighbor of the Beast.’

Coming to the cast, we should get to see Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Daniel Mays, Sian Brooke, Ned Dennehy and Ariyon Bakare in the lead roles. There is a possibility that Nick Offerman, Anna Maxwell Martin, Nina Sosanya, Doon Mackichan, Sam Taylor Buck, Jon Hamm and others might reprise their roles.

Good Omens Season 2 was renewed a long time back following the release of Season 1. Production was delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic just like many other shows.

The upcoming season is now expected to release sometime in 2022, although an official date is supposed to be announced soon. The new season might consist of six episodes like the first season.
