Google may launch both Pixel 3 Lite devices on Verizon in spring 2019

Google is already known to be working on two  new Pixel devices that are said to be “Lite” versions of their Pixel 3 counterparts launched this year. Renders have already surfaced online giving an insight into the design aspects of the devices.

According to a new report by Android Police, Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite will be announced for Verizon in “early spring” next year hinting to an April-May launch. This may be done to position its timing just around six months before company’s MadeByGoogle launch event, which will take place sometime in October which will give plenty of time for the next premiem Pixel offering.

Google is yet to launch a mid-range Pixel device and the last time we saw this approach before was with the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5x, the former being a premium offering and the later a mid-ranger according to its specs and price range.

From the previous reports, the Pixel 3 Lite will feature a 5.5 inch display while the larger XL “Lite” will have a 6 inch screen, both with 18:9 aspect ratio. Both the phones will come with 4GB of RAM, 32GB internal  storage, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The upcoming handsets are expected to be powered by SD 670 or 710 CPU. In the optics department, they will be getting the company’s best 12MP rear and 8MP front cameras from the higher Pixel brothers. Though it may sport lower-end sensors.

If this rumour turns out to be true, Verizon will likely to remain Google’s exclusive carrier in the US at least for the first half of next year. Though there is the possibility of the availability of the unlocked variants, but Sprint compability might be in the air.

The introduction of the Google’s mid-range pixel devices makes sense as the company would like to expand its availability in emerging markets. Though the price of the Pixel Lite and Pixel Lite XL is not available right now, we can expect it to be placed somewhere between the Pocophone and OnePlus 6T launch.
