Streaming service Paramount+ is bringing a brand new musical romantic comedy series, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies. It is based on the Grease films by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.

It is created by Annabel Oakes, who is also the executive producer alongside Marty Bowen and Erik Feig. The show is being produced by Paramount Television Studios, Picturestart, and Temple Hill Entertainment.

Production had not been completed yet. Filming for the series had begun on January 31, 2022. So the release date has not been confirmed yet.

The series will have 10 episodes, which has also been confirmed by the makers. Further information and any other changes are expected to be announced soon.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies Plot and Cast

If you are a fan of the Pink Ladies – the group formed by Betty Rizzo (Stockard Channing), Jan (Jamie Donnelly), Marty Maraschino (Dinah Manoff), and Frenchy (Didi Conn) in the original Grease movie – you should be really excited about this series. As the title suggests, the upcoming series will focus on the rise of this social group at Rydell High School.

The story will take place four years before Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John) and Danny Zuko (John Travolta) meet on the beach, as we learn in the first movie. It will show how the rise of the Pink Ladies girl gang, with its members having fun and playing by their own rules, make a name for themselves while arousing moral panic in their school.

This time, we will follow Jane, Olivia, Cynthia, and Nancy as they form the Pink Ladies during their teenage years while singing about it. Overall, this will be a musical series.

Talking about the cast, it includes Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, Tricia Fukuhara, Shanel Bailey, Madison Thompson, Johnathan Nieves, Jason Schmidt, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper, and Jackie Hoffman. Chris McNally, Charlotte Kavanagh, Josette Halpert, Nicholas McDonough, Maximo Weber Salas, and Alexis Sides joined the cast in a recurring capacity, as announced in February 2022.
