GTA 5 Online Cayo Perico Heist DLC: Release date, map updates, patch notes, songs!

GTA fans have been waiting eagerly for the launch of the Cayo Perico Heist DLC, which introduces a new island location to the map, a new nightclub, and tons of other features.

The Cayo Perico Heist is expected to be one of the biggest and best updates yet in GTA Online. The update has a December 15 release date with no official statement on the launch time.

A lengthy list of patch notes is still to be revealed by Rockstar Games. However, we do know that the free DLC update will introduce a brand new area for players to explore and wreak havoc in.

The Island

Cayo Perico is designed to be an exotic island location for one of the world’s most notorious drug dealers. The island will be packed full of private security guards, armed to the teeth with an arsenal of explosive weaponry.

The heist will have players attempting an escape from the island with as much evidence, art, gold, and drug money as they can carry.

“Prepare to infiltrate the remote island compound of the world’s most notorious drug dealer in Grand Theft Auto Online’s biggest, most daring, and action-packed addition yet: The Cayo Perico Heist,” reads an official Rockstar post.

“It’s up to you to find a way to breach Cayo Perico, one of the most secure private islands in the entire world, evade or neutralize the heavily armed security forces stationed there, and escape with valuable evidence along with as much art, gold and drug money as you can carry.”

This heist offers the option of tackling it by yourself or with a group of friends. Thus far, all heists have required a mandatory four-player squad, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in the Cayo Perico Heist. Judging by the official description, you’ll have more choice when it comes to preparing for the Heist.

“Choose your tools. Choose your approach. Choose your crew – or even go it entirely alone. Just make it back to Los Santos in one piece.”

The Nightclub

In addition to this, a new nightclub is being added to the game- The Music Locker, which will be located beneath the Diamon Casino and Resort, featuring high-profile DJs such as Detroit’s Moodymann.

“Later in the season, Berlin collective Keinemusik will take clubbers on a journey from the sounds of open-air beach parties to the darkest nights in Europe, while Palms Trax is preparing to bring old-school house, exotic strains of disco and the latest from the UK underground to his Music Locker Residency later this month,” Rockstar adds.

The club will also feature a VIP section which will be exclusively accessed by players who own a penthouse in The Diamond.

New Music

Rockstar is adding a large variety of new songs to the radio stations of the game.

The new radio stations include Still Slipping Los Santos with Joy Orbison, as well as KULT FM featuring Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas.

Other Updates

The Cayo Perico Heist will also include new vehicles, weapons, and much more.

“Plus you can acquire new vehicles and tactical weapons, experience new social spaces to dance and party in with your friends, and new world-class guest DJs, and listen to new radio stations with over 100 new songs. Oh, and a very large, very versatile, and very heavily armed submarine HQ with plenty of other surprises.”
