Created by Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky, Hacks is a comedy-drama streaming television series made for HBO Max. Aniello, Downs and Statsky are also the executive producers alongside Michael Schur, David Miner and Morgan Sackett.

The first season of the series premiered on May 13, 2021 and received positive reviews from critics and audiences. It currently holds an approval rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and looking at the positive response towards the first season, the makers have already renewed the series for a second season.

The creators have not revealed a lot of details about the plot for Hacks Season 2. Two days after the show’s renewal, Downs and company stated their vision for the show’s future, saying that it will involve continuing the story established in Season 1. They said,

“What we set out to do in this story is to set Ava, Deborah and everyone in their ecosystem on a road to redemption and emotional happiness. So, I think we want to continue down that path. As you’ve seen in the show, it’s typically one step forward, two steps back, but that’s where the fun and games are.”

The basic premise follows Deborah Vance, a Las Vegas based stand-up comedy diva who needs to maintain relevance and Ava, a young comedy writer, who is unable to find work due to being fired from her job over an insensitive tweet. They meet up to freshen up Deborah’s material and learn to respect each other’s differences.

Coming to the cast, we should get to see Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder and Carl Clemons-Hopkins in the lead roles. Since it is a new season, we can expect to see some new faces.

Hacks Season 2 Release Date

The first season of Hacks premiered in May 2021 and it was renewed for a second season the following month. The second season is now scheduled to release on May 12, 2022.
