Rarely is the case that a web series is an offspring of a featured movie and that too with a peak engagement percentage. Hanna, the American action drama web series, is a skillful, witty, pastiche of the 2011 film of the same name. The series is created and written by David Farr and directed by Sarah Adina Smith. Available on Amazon, the series had its genesis on March 29, 2019, and the second season was released on July 3, 2020. Immediately, the third season had been renewed after the release of the second.
The description on Prine Video goes like this,
In equal parts high-concept thriller and coming-of-age drama, HANNA follows the journey of an extraordinary young girl raised in the forest, as she evades the relentless pursuit of an off-book CIA agent and tries to unearth the truth behind who she is.
Residing in a remote part of a forest in Poland, with a father-figure named Erik, 15-year-old Hanna figures out that there is something fishy behind her birth. “Erik once recruited pregnant women into a CIA program, code name UTRAX, where the children’s DNA was enhanced with 3% wolf in order to create super-soldiers. When Erik falls in love with Johanna, Hanna’s mother, he rescues baby Hanna and they flee. The CIA then orders their on-site agent, Marissa, to shut down the project and eliminate all the babies.”
There has been no official confirmation of the release date of the third season. The second season finished off with Hanna and Marissa reuniting once again while Carmichael succumbed to a shot and was overpowered. Marissa divulged a plan for all three of them to return to The Meadows so she could take down Utrax from the inside. Season 3 might continue Clara’s story of her journey to Egypt to meet her biological mother.
The setting of the series is predominately in the United Kingdom, Barcelona, Paris, Charleroi. Filming was set to take place in Spain at the port of Almeria and the Estación Intermodal.
