High Maintenance is an American anthology comedy-drama television and web series. Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld created this show. Ben and Katja are an ex-husband and wife duo. Originally High Maintenance premiered as a web series on Vimeo on November 11, 2012. After that, it began airing as a television series on HBO on September 16, 2016. The show tracks The Guy, a cannabis courier as he supplies his product to clients in New York City. Each episode focuses on different characters as their lives intersect with The Guy.
High Maintenance has received critical acclaim. This was majorly for its portrayals of boredom, loneliness, and the human condition. Second season episode “Globo” was ranked as one of the best episodes of 2018 by sources such as Time and Variety.
WHAT IS HIGH MAINTAINANCE ABOUT?
According to Wikipedia, “Largely plotless, the show consists of vignettes in the lives of various New Yorkers. This is as they come into direct or indirect contact with The Guy. The web series was shot throughout various neighbourhoods in Brooklyn and occasionally Manhattan. These episodes generally ranged from 5 to 20 minutes in length. The television version continued the practice of on-location photography. “Freed of the constraints of thirty-minute or one-hour formulas, the episodes are luxurious and twisty and humane, radiating new ideas about storytelling,” wrote television critic Emily Nussbaum in an article for The New Yorker.”
WHAT’S THE CAST FOR HIGH MAINTAINANCE?
In this cast, we start things off by seeing Ben Sinclair appear as Rufus Mann who is a marijuana delivery courier. Ben is also the co-creator of this show. Another cast member is Dan Stevens who appears as a cross-dressing screenwriter named Colin in the web series episode “Rachel”. Katja Blichfeld acts as Becky who is the wife of Dan Stevens’ cross-dressing character in the web series episode “Rachel.
WHEN IS SEASON 5 OF HIGH MAINTAINANCE RELEASING?
The fourth season of this show premiered sometime in February 2020. Although it would make sense to assume that the fifth season would also air around the same time, the pandemic has put a halt on that. Considering production during this pandemic, we can expect to see this season sometime in September 2021.
