Since the global unveiling of the Honor View 20, fans in India have been eagerly waiting for it to launch in the country. The Honor View 20 will earn the title of first smartphone in the Indian market with a punch-hole display and a 48MP Sony IMX576 Camera.
The Huawei sub-brand unveiled the Honor View 20 in China back in December last year. The global launch was on January 23. The specifications are already made available to the public, but there is some fresh information regarding the device’s price in the country.
The Honor View 20 boasts a glossy glass back with tapered edges that give a better grip. It sports a 6.4 inch FullHD+ IPS panel with a resolution of 2310 x 1080 pixels. The punch-hole cutout at the top left of the all-screen display houses the 25MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The absence of any extra bezel except for a chin leads to a high screen-to-body ratio of 91.82%.
The Honor View 20 houses a 7nm based HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset paired with a Mali G76 MP10 GPU. The new chipset comes with power efficiency and packs a dual NPU for advanced AI and machine learning computation. The report new report claims that only the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant will make it to India.
The Honor View 20 is the world’s first smartphone to come with a 48MP rear camera which is a Sony IMX 586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture. The camera uses pixel binning to combine four 0.8µm pixels into one to make a 1.6µ pixel when in 12MP mode. There are advanced AI features aided by the NPU and it can shoot 960 fps slow motion videos along with 4K videos at 60fps. There is also a secondary 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor for depth sensing, 3D aid, and AR effects.
The handset runs Magic UI 2.0 on top of Android 9.0 Pie and is backed a massive 4,000 mAh battery with support for Huawei’s Super Charge fast charging. Other features include liquid cooling system, dual microphones, dual frequency GPS, 3.5 mm headphone jack and triple-antenna Wi-Fi onboard.
The reports reveal that the Honor View 20 will be priced at Rs 35,999 for the single variant undercutting the OnePlus 6T by a very small margin. The phone will be exclusively available through Amazon India in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue color options. The launch date is scheduled to be held on January 29.
