House of the Dragon: Plot and Cast

House of the Dragon narrates a tale of events that took place two hundred years before the affairs of Game of Thrones. It chronicles the inception of the end of House Targaryen, which leads up to and covers their war of succession, namely, “Dance of the Dragons”, the civil war between Aegon II and Rhaenyra. The siblings are up against each other to throne themselves following the death of Viseys I, their father. All of the houses of Westeros, the Starks and the Lannisters to name a few, took either side of the war in which a number of compelling dragons perished. Following the war, the dragons go extinct leaving three eggs behind which remain dormant for a century until one fine day, Daenerys Targaryen, a.k.a. the Khaleesi, hatches them all, thus being pronounced the Mother of Dragons.

The star cast of House of the Dragon comprises Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Milly Alcock portrays young Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Lady Alicent Hightower, Emily Carey portrays young Alicent Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, and Rhys Ifans as Ser Otto Hightower.
