Created by Ryan J. Condal and George R. R. Martin, House of the Dragon is an upcoming American fantasy drama television series. The executive producers of the show are Ryan J. Condal, George R. R. Martin, Miguel Sapochnik, Vince Gerardis, Sara Lee Hess and Ron Schmidt.
House of the Dragon received a straight-to-series order in October 2019 with casting beginning in July 2020 and principal photography beginning in April 2021 in the United Kingdom. The series is scheduled to premiere on August 21, 2022. Its first season will consist of ten episodes.

House of the Dragon Plot and Cast
House of the Dragon will follow the Dance of the Dragons, a Targaryen civil war that took place in Westeros and is referenced in Fire and Blood and The World of Ice and Fire. This particular battle of succession is also explored in two novellas, The Princess and the Queen and The Rogue Prince.
HBO released the official trailer for the series on July 20, and it features all manner of Game of Thrones goodness, including Milly Alcock’s Young Rhaenyra, the all-platinum-blonde Targaryen family, and an extremely dramatic cover of the Velvet Underground’s “Venus in Furs.”
The expecting cast includes Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy, Milly Alcock, Olivia Cooke, Emily Carey, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans and more.
House of the Dragon Release Date
House of the Dragon is confirmed to premiere on August 21, 2022. The series will be distributed by Sky’s SoHo TV channel and Neon streaming service in New Zealand and by Disney+ Hotstar in India.
It’ll go head-to-head with another fantasy juggernaut, Amazon’s The Rings of Power, landing on September 2. The series is distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.
