How is Netflix’s “Reality Z” Related to British Series “Dead Set”?

Netflix has released another zombie apocalypse “Reality Z” recently. Netflix is leaving no stone unturned in bringing out one series after another. In its quest to churn out maximum content as possible, it has covered all major genres including comedy, action, drama, horror. Name a genre and Netflix probably has made a series on that topic.

Reality Z is based on a fictional reality show Olympus (rip off of reality show Big Brother ). The reality show Olympus involves a group of contestants that stay together and every week one of them is voted out. The reality show goes on normally initially but a sudden zombie apocalypse that destroys everything outside. The contestants are forced to stay together in the studio as zombies now rule the world. The director and the producer differ in their course of action. There are some that want to fight the undead and there are some that want to profit out of the crisis.  Can the former competitors survive together? Or are they still competing with each other’s lives?

“Reality Z” is written and created by Claudio Torres. This series has been directed by Rodrigo Monte.

How is “Reality Z” related to the British series “Dead Set”?

Does the storyline of Reality Z sound familiar to some audience? It seems familiar because Reality Z is based on Charlie Brooker’s British horror series Dead Set. The Reality Z can be called a Brazillian adaptation of Dead Set. It is worth mentioning that the makers of Reality Z do acknowledge that their series is adapted from the original Dead Set by giving a disclaimer before every episode. It is worth noting that another popular British horror series Black Mirror is also created by Charlie Brooker.

Whether the series can replicate the success of Dead Set, only time can tell.

The cast of this horror series from Netflix includes Ana Hartmann as Nina, Ravel Andrade as Leo Schmidt, Guilherme Weber as Brand, Carla Ribas as Ana Schmidt, Emílio de Mello as Alberto Levi, Luellem de Castro as Teresa and João Pedro Zappa as TK. Other cast members in the team include Jesus Luz as Lucas, Hanna Romanazzi as Jessica, Leandro Daniel as Augusto, Gabriel Canella as Marcos, Wallie Ruy as Madonna, Julia Ianina as Cristina and Natália Rosa as Veronica.

How have fans rated the series?

The series has not received a very positive response. The users have called out the similarity between it and the British series Dead Set. Many users are not satisfied with this blatant copying of some sequences.
