Huawei announces EMUI 9.0 for 9 Huawei Phones

After the brands like Google (of course), OnePlus and Nokia, Huawei has now entered the game of Android Pie as well. The Chinese giant has now officially launched the beta program for EMUI 9.0 which is based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie.

While the newly launched Huawei Mate 20, Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20X readily ship with Android Pie, the company has made it clear on its Twitter handle that the EMUI 9 update will be given to the below-listed smartphones which are powered by the flagship Kirn 970 SoC (as of now):

  • Huawei Mate 10
  • Huawei Mate 10 Pro
  • Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design
  • Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design
  • Huawei P20
  • Huawei P20 Pro
  • Honor 10
  • Honor View 10
  • Honor Play

The EMUI brings certain improvements over the previous EMUI 8 including faster app launch times, better system response, integrated GPU Turbo 2.0, new AI video editor, HiVision- similar to Google Lens and Samsung’s Bixby Vision, AI E-Commerce, Password Vault, Huawei Share for wireless printing.

Furthermore, the new UI incorporates simplified design to reflect natural elements and nature’s sound via transitions, new haptic feedback, and sounds. One more thing is the inclusion of one-handed navigation using iPhone X-ish gestures.

The early adopter list is limited to 5,000 users per device model and for getting into the beta program to enjoy Pie before the stable release, you have to upgrade the Beta Tester app to its latest version 8.0.2.81. Once you’re done with the same, go to Services section and then select Upgrade Early Adoption. In exchange for the latest update, beta users are required to provide the brand with some feedback about the features and stability of the new version.

It is good to see that Chinese manufacturers with custom skins are too working on their software to bring the latest Android version to its customers. It is also worth noting that OnePlus has recently said that the devices like OnePlus 5 and 5T need to wait some time for the Pie OTA even after having a simple and close to Stock UI. Anyways, stay tuned while we bring the latest updates right on your door.
