Huawei claims that the all-new Kirin 980 chipset is a lot faster than the Apple’s A12 Bionic

It’s always interesting to see how brands compete with each other when it comes to development and innovation in technology. Recently, something similar has happened between Huawei and Apple. Last week, Apple launched it’s new iPhone XS featuring the all-new A12 Bionic processor which is based on the 7nm architecture. Now, after a week of this announcement Huawei has announced its own 7nm processor which is the all-new Kirin 980. It’s been over 3 years since Huawei has been working to develop the Kirin 980 and they are finally here! Huawei has mainly focused on Intelligence, Efficiency, and Connectivity.

So now talking about numbers, Huawei Kirin 980 comes with 6.9 billion transistors which are similar to what Apple has managed in the A12 Bionic. But then, Huawei is claiming that the Kirin 980 is 75% faster compared to the previous generation CPU and 46% faster in terms of GPU.

So the power efficiency is around 57% better on this new processor and surprisingly 178% better on the GPU. Now all these advancements together should make the Kirin 980 a lot faster and much more efficient. Well, so now talking about intelligence Huawei has made great efforts and has doubled on its NPU with the real-time video processing, so now it has got the capacity to recognize 4,500 images every single minute.

So now these processors are at a stage where they know when to provide performance and when to take a step back and rest down to save some power. Before wrapping things up, how can we even miss to talk about connectivity? The Kirin 980 is the worlds first processor which supports the LTE Cat.21 which has the download speeds up to 1.4Gbps. Now the Kirin 980 is all set to be the best ever processor for this year as per Huawei’s claims, but then we need to wait and see how much better is this processor when compared to the Apple A12 Bionic.

Honestly, I’m just like you. I went to college. My academic background revolves around computer science and information technology. To honest, I was never that great at studies though! Started off my internet journey at the age of 16 and made my first penny within a month through website designing.
