Huawei Nova 4 to be unveiled on December 17

Huawei released a teaser last month revealing a smartphone with a cut-out notch in the upper left corner.  The company also showcased the Huawei  Nova 4 a week before, giving a glimpse of it before the official launch. Today, the Chinese manufacturer confirmed that it will launch the Huawei Nova 4 on December 17.

The cut-out notch will hold and camera and is almost bezeless expect for a thin chin. These cut-out notches are more pleasing and less distracting. Unlike traditional notch, we will likely be able to play full-screen games without hiding the notch. The power button and volume rocker are both placed together on the right side.

Samsung showcased three different types of notches at the Samsung Developers Conference (SDC) last month with a similar design called Infinity-O display. The company is expected to launch the Galaxy A8s soon with the Infinity-O display. Lenovo is also planning the launch the Z5s with a similar cut-out notch that holds the front camera. However, the notch placement is different as the Lenovo Z5s notch is placed on the top middle part of the display. Since the respective manufacturers are yet to confirm its launch dates, Huawei might become the first manufacturer to launch a smartphone with a cut-out notched display.

Though the specifications of the device are unknown as of now we can take a hint from its predecessor Huawei Nova 3 launched back this year in July. It is powered by a Kirin 970, which leads to the assumption that Huawei Nova 4 will be powered by that latest Kirin 980 because if it houses the Kirin 710, it will be in the same range as the Nova 3i, which will be an utter disappointment. Other features of the Nova 3 includes a 6.3 inch display, 4GB/6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, 16MP + 24MP rear cameras, 24MP + 2MP front cameras and a 3,750 mAh battery.
