Huawei smartphone with Infinity-O display to launch next month

Huawei Inifnity-O

Huawei has been aggressively pursuing to become the top vendor as their releases match each and every step with Samsung who currently bags the first post. The company’s Mate 20 series with triple camera setup is a direct competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy 9 series. Huawei is on a race with Samsung to bring the foldable smartphone in the market new year and today it confirmed that it will launch a smartphone with Infinity-O display next month.

The confirmation came in the form of a teaser imags posted in the company’s profile in Weibo. It shows the outline of the smartphone infront of a galaxy with a hole in the top left of the display. The lower part of the image displays the month December. It not yet confirmed what Huawei will be naming these types of displays and may go in a different direction considering the Infinity moniker is owned by Samsung.

Interestingly, Samsung showcased three different types of notches at the Samsung Developers Conference (SDC) earlier this month with the Infinity-O display being one of them. The company also confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy A8s will feature this design but whether it will be launch before Huawei’s competitor remains to be seen. Interestingly the Samsung S10 flagship smartphone is also rumored to sport the same design.

However, everything will not be similar as it looks. The new leaked images of the Galaxy A8s reveal a “punch hole” cut-out that is placed at the top middle portion of the display and not in sideways as suggested before. This type of notch is the first of its kind though we may see other manufacturers other adopting it later on. The absence of a traditional notch will allow the smartphones to achieve a high screen-to-body ratio and also the elimination of all bezels.

As for its launch, Huawei is yet to officially reveal the date of the launch event but considering the teaser we expect it to be around the corner.
