Directed by Felipe Rodriguez, Alison Reid and John Vatcher, Hudson & Rex is a police procedural drama series, made for Citytv. Oliver Bachert, Scott Garvie, Friedemann Goez, Paul Pope, Nataline Rodrigues and Ken Cuperus are the executive producers of the show.

The first season premiered on March 25, 2019 followed by the second season on September 24, 2019. The third season was released on January 5, 2021 and the fourth was released on October 7, 2021. Although it has received mixed reviews from critics, the makers have already renewed the series for a fifth season.

Hudson & Rex Plot and Cast

Although the makers have not revealed much, Hudson & Rex will continue from where the fourth season ended. The basic premise follows Detective Charlie Hudson, a Major Crimes detective of the fictional St. John’s Police Department.

He is partnered with Rex, a multi-scent trained German Shepherd with an excellent ear for unique sounds. Hudson grew up reading mystery novels and as a result always wanted to be a police detective. He is partnered with Rex after Rex’s K9 human partner, Constable Grace Lindsay, was killed pursuing a kidnapper and Rex was scheduled to be euthanized.

Rex’s keen nose and ears are instrumental in helping Detective Hudson advance the investigations in each episode. The duo receive assistance from Superintendent Donovan, Forensics Chief Truong, and IT Specialist Mills every episode in gathering and interpreting evidence.

Coming to the cast, the leads of the first four seasons are expected to reprise their roles. This include John Reardon, Marko Nguyen, Kevin Hanchard, Justin Kelly and Diesel vom Burgimwald.

Hudson & Rex Season 5 Release Date

The latest season of Hudson & Rex premiered on October 7, 2021 and concluded on April 19, 2022. The makers have confirmed that the fifth season is scheduled to premiere in late 2022.

The number of episodes for the upcoming season has not been confirmed since it has been different in the first four seasons. The show is produced by Shaftesbury Pope Productions and Beta Film.
