What is the show about?
Carly has graduated from college, terminated her successful online show, and moved into the same building as Spencer and Freddie in the iCarly reboot, which begins up around 10 years after the original series ended, and Cosgrove hints at a lot of changes for her character.
When it comes to Spencer and Freddie, one has made it big (Spencer), while the other is divorced and living with his mother (Freddie). The show appears to be focused on giving fans of the original series a rebirth while also being true to what Carly would be going through as a 26-year-old still trying to figure it all out.
If you’re wondering what happened to Carly’s YouTube career, she decided to come back online and discover her voice in a completely different social media scene. It’ll be interesting to see how iCarly navigates the internet arena with a revitalized sense of comedy for an older audience as a pioneer of the online movement.
Cast: Who’s in it?
Carly Shay, Spencer Shay, and Freddie Benson are played by Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor, and Nathan Kress, respectively, with newcomers Laci Mosley as Carly’s roommate and closest friend Harper, and Jaidyn Triplett as Freddie’s caustic and social media-savvy stepdaughter Millicent.
Jennette McCurdy, who played Carly’s rowdy best friend Sam Puckett on the original series, would not return for the revival season after recently declaring her retirement from acting. Noah Munck, who played the eccentric Gibby Gibson, is also unlikely to appear in the new program based on his absence in the teaser.
Solitude is a catalyst for innovation.
