Gudmundur Jens Gudmundsson a.k.a Kahnin always proves that you don’t need an extravagant set or special effects in order to create a music video. You just need your instruments, a sober backdrop, a camera, and your soul. And Kahnin’s new single Stardust is the epitome of simplicity. The video was filmed in the oldest church on the southwest corner of Iceland, in the middle of the COVID-19 lockdown. Let us just stand up and bow for his efforts, taking the risks, keeping his safety aside. It’s his tribute to David and Angie Bowie’s glam rock years.
Stardust gives you the flavor of retro music, and one can’t help but tap their feet to the rhythm (or maybe also dance to it). You will just feel to groove your body and move your hips, dancing freely like a child. Or sit alone quietly and thinking about your beloved. The song is a whole mood. The lyrics tell you about the story of a man waiting for a woman he loves, contemplating their future together. The man questions himself whether the woman will agree to marry him after all he did to get her attention. Meanwhile, when he is giving you a romantic hope, all of a sudden he throws the most millennial thing ever, a harsh truth right at your face.
Stardust is a song about your crush standing far away from you, seeing her playing the Tambourine. This song takes you away to another dimension like the Aladdin’s carpet.
The song is his latest release and his eighth single to date and is recorded in NYC and Iceland by Arthur Pingrey. Dylan Wissing is the drummer on the track, his resume is loaded with names like Alicia Keys, Eminem, Jay Z, Drake, and of course Kahnin. The guitarist is Ómar Guðjónsson who is one of Iceland’s premier guitarists. Stardust has gained over a million views on YouTube and over 300k on Spotify and has received great reviews. His other hits are Sunny Day, Wonderland, Brand New Start, etc.
Kahnin is in the studio now finishing up his latest song Ducktape which will be released within the next two months.
