Indiana Jones 5: Release Date Confirmed (Again) and More !

George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Harrison Ford are back after 12 years for a new “Indiana Jones”. The last instalment in the series “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull” came way back in 2008, although it did not do very well with the fans but managed a whopping 760 million dollars worldwide. After this, the fans thought they had seen enough of the “Lucas-Spielberg” combo (Better die a Hero than live long enough to see yourself become a villain), but in 2016, the franchise announced “Indy 5” saying that it won’t be a reboot.

    What is the Release Date of “Indiana Jones 5”?

In 2016, Disney announced a new untitled “Indiana Jones 5” project. It was set to release in 2019, but due to problems regarding the script and other mishaps, the date was changed to 2020. Now, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, all productions worldwide have stopped and nobody knows when they’ll be back on track, keeping this in mind, the new date confirmed for the release is July 29,2022.

    Do new members join the “Indiana Jones 5” Project?

The most shocking news about the franchise was that Spielberg would not direct the movie and James Mangold is going to take charge, now you might know James Mangold from critically acclaimed blockbusters like “Logan”, “Ford vs Ferrari” and “Walk the Line”, but Spielberg and Lucas gave birth to the Indiana Jones project and Spielberg had been the director of the franchise in all the four films since the first release in 1981 which garnered 8 Oscar nominations. Spielberg and Lucas both will now be just producers of the new “Indy 5”.

The script has also made rounds and rounds among new writers. The first draft was prepared by David Koepp, but soon he was not associated with the project, David Kasdan was then asked to rewrite Koepp’s script, in May “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman was brought to take over the script. There is still no confirmation about the script’s completion. All in all, only one thing is certain and that is we are going to see Harrison Ford in the lead role again. Creators have not said anything about the plot or the cast and the trailer is not out yet.
