INVINCIBLE SEASON 1:

Based on the comic book character of the same name by Robert Kirkman, “Invincible” is an American adult animated superhero streaming television series starring Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, and J. K. Simmons that premiered on Friday, March 26, 2021, on Amazon Prime Video.

SEASON DETAILS:

Mark Grayson is a normal teenager, except for the fact that his father, Nolan, is the most powerful superhero on the planet. Shortly after his seventeenth birthday, Mark begins to develop powers of his own and enters into his father’s tutelage.

Once his inherited powers kick in from his half-alien heritage  (Omni – Man) is an alien Viltrumite with incredible, Superman-like abilities. Mark wastes no time picking out a new costume to follow in his father’s footsteps. Mark quickly finds other young heroes in the Teen team like Robot, Dupli-Kate, Rex Splode, and Atom Eve, though his idyllic superhero life proves to be anything but ordinary.

Invincible is quickly thrust into the role of Earth’s protector when he begins working with Cecil Steadman and the U.S. Government. He garners plenty of enemies who haunt his professional and personal life and threaten the safety of his family and loved ones. At times, they also threaten the entire known universe.

In comparison to The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman spoke to Inverse, “I don’t think in that sense.”

He added: “I think Walking Dead was only meant to be a fun exploration of what you can do in the zombie genre if you spent a little bit more time with the characters, and explored things in a little bit more of a realistic and long-term kind of way. We didn’t set out to do something that became the big event that it became. If we had, we’d have failed. So similarly with Invincible, we’re really just trying to take this well-worn genre everyone’s fallen in love with and put a fresh coat of paint on it, and do a little something different.”
