Video game inspired upcoming movie Borderlands, directed by Eli Roth, has officially announced the casting of Cate Blanchett for the character Lilith. Randy Pitchford will be present as the executive producer of the film. Few months back Lionsgate declared about the motion picture.
Roth said in a press interview,
” I’m so lucky to have the amazing Cate Blanchett starring in Borderlands. We had the most incredible collaboration together on The House with a Clock in Its Walls, and I believe there’s nothing she can’t do. From drama to comedy and now action, Cate makes every scene sing. Working with her is truly a director’s dream come true, and I feel so fortunate that I get to do it again on an even bigger scale.”
Lilith belongs from Borderlands’ “Siren” class. She is originally from the planet Dionysus and is one of six Sirens, a group of women with unbelievable powers. Her action skill is called Phasewalk, which lets her turn invisible to enemies, and moves much faster, causing a damaging shockwave upon entering and exiting. She generally operates as a close range striker and uses numerous elemental damage enhancements to inflict harm on the opponents. Her Phasewalk helps her to survive once in the heat of battle and escape any hostility. One of her most impressive and funny dialogues from the game is “Awwwwwwwwww…did that hurt?“, while dealing with any enemy.
The video game character will indeed be a hit in the upcoming movie. Even though there hasn’t been any official announcement regarding the release, but it is heard that the shooting might start later this year, if things get back to normal. Also, HBO’s Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin, is working on the script, side by side penning down for another video game inspired TV series Last of Us.
The movie might sum up the entire Borderland franchise universe in one motion picture or also might make a movie franchise as well. We never know. The director is known for it’s horror and psychotic thrillers, and hence, we might get to see his magic this time as well. It will be quite interesting experience for the fans
