Is ‘Clueless’ Finally Available on Netflix? (Spoilers)

The 90s classic hit Clueless is finally available on Netflix USA from this month. The OTT platform has been trying to bring back the oldies, giving a nostalgic vibe to all the audience. Not only it is good news for Gen Y, but the new generation can enjoy the old classics, the much-needed flavor during the season of nostalgia. And we must say, the viewers are growing day by day.

1995 American teen-comedy was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and was produced by Scott Rudin and Robert Lawrence. The story is said to be adapted from Jane Austen’s Emma, with a modern touch of Los Angeles. Since the movie dealt with the high-school students of Beverly Hills, the director took out time to study and research on their lifestyle and teen behavior.

Spoiler Ahead!

The movie manifests the regular banter of rich teens, facing “rich people” problems. For instance, the protagonist, Cher’s mother died of routine liposuction. Cher goes on to do the deed of matchmaking, along with her best friend Dionne, when she was successful connecting her teachers and make them fall in love with each other. They both meet Tai, a new student in school, and the three become a gang. Again, Cher tries to set up Tai with a rich guy but fails. But Tai’s newfound fame ruins their relationship and cracks started forming. This leads Cher to reflect on her priorities and her repeated failures to understand or appreciate the people in her life.

The movie also gave rise to a similar TV series with the same casts in 1996. Also, Simon Spotlight Entertainment spun off a collection of paperback books, from 1995 to 1999, aimed at adolescent readers, written by H. B. Gilmour and Randi Reisfeld, a Simon & Schuster publication. The producers are also expecting a sequel to the movie, but there has no confirmed news. The film grossed $56.1 million in the United States.
