Is ‘The Rookie’ Coming back with it’s Season 3?

ABC Studios and Entertainment One’s comedy-drama television series The Rookie is up for its third season. ABC Studios recently announced the renewal of the third season and fans couldn’t be anymore happier, since the last season ended with a cliffhanger. The first season was premiered on October 16, 2018 and the second one on September 29,2019.

The story revolves around the Los Angeles Police Department, where John Nolan is the oldest rookie in LAPD. A divorced, former construction company owner at Pennsylvania, with a son in college, goes on to pursue a career in the police department, apparently inspired by a bank robbery that was partially stopped by him. A man with no previous experience in the field, Nolan bravely faces the obstacles and difficulties and tackles the “mid-life crisis” tantrums from his co-workers. Even though people think that his “heat of the moment passion” for the job might lead to the killing of people, he truly believes that the job was meant for him. His duty pushes him to life-threatening instances, and he understands the perspective of being a police officer.

The Rookies said to be inspired from an original story, where the LAPD recruited 2 officers in their late-thirties. Bill Norcross, who apparently inspired the story, still serves the LAPD and is true to his duty, and surprisingly, also an executive producer of the show.

Nathan Fillion took to Instagram and celebrated the renewal.

When the whole film industry is suffering a great loss because of the pandemic, and movies/series are getting delayed, this show got lucky that the shooting, as well as the post-production work, was done early. But there is no official announcement of the season airing.

The show got equal hype as that of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, another top-rated comedy series about the American police procedural. One fan says,

The Rookie is a great show for those who enjoy law enforcement shows out there. It teaches the audience that law enforcement officers are just the same as everyone else. That they’re not out to be bad guys, just men and women who risk their lives every day in a war at the homefront rather than foreign land. They are the soldiers on our streets making sure all the citizens are safe and really “to protect and serve.” It shows the daily life of what an officer may experience through their job, but also at home and with their families.

The series stars Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Wade Grey, Titus Makin Jr. as Jackson West, Mercedes Mason as Zoe Andersen, Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen, Afton Williamson as Talia Bishop, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford and Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper.
