Jurassic World: Dominion debuting in North America with a $143.37 million domestic launch

It can be hard to believe that it has been more than two decades since Jurassic Park first hit theaters. The movie was an instant classic and spawned a franchise that is still going strong today. Whether you are a fan of the movies or not, there is no denying that they are iconic.

Indeed, if you needed any further proof, then you would have been able to find it via the box office figures that have been provided regarding the next installment of the series; almost 30 years following the release of the original title in 1993!

According to figures to have been released, it has been revealed that Jurassic World: Dominion had managed to generate $143.37 million at the box office in its North American debut. If that were not enough to highlight its appeal and status as an iconic movie franchise, then perhaps the fact that it has made $319M in the film’s first weekend worldwide should go a long way in doing so.

Why did Jurassic World: Dominion achieve so much success?

Of course, there are perhaps a number of different answers that can be provided when trying to explain why this latest installment in the iconic film series was able to achieve as much success as it did.

The fact that the film is as iconic as it is will have to be one of the biggest reasons. When the first film was launched in 1993, there would have been a number of young children that would have seen that movie and would have been left in awe of what had been created.

As time has gone by, they have gotten older alongside the movie franchise, with some having had children of their own. This may have helped boost the appeal that Jurassic Park has had over time and why it has managed to stand the test of time.

Additionally, the theme of dinosaurs in pop culture has always been something that has attracted many around the world. Of course, we were unable to actually experience these supernatural creatures, which has subsequently created a real intrigue about these beasts as they have become an important part of history and a subject that many want to learn about.

As a result, there have been a number of different sources of entertainment forms to have taken inspiration from the dinosaur themes, including a range of movies, theme parks, and videogames. One instance of this is the Jurassic Park: Gold title, which is one of the most popular 32Red slots online that gamers regularly continue to enjoy as much as they possibly can.

Lastly, another reason why Jurassic World: Dominion was perhaps able to achieve so much success all over the world is the fact that the story sees the original cast return and work with the new cast that has since taken over the stories that have been produced.

Jurassic Park has always been successful

The first Jurassic Park movie was released in 1993 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. The movie was based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton. It starred actors such as Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. The movie was a huge success, grossing over $900 million at the box office. It won multiple Academy Awards, including Best Visual Effects.

The success of the first movie led to two sequels being made: The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001). Both of these movies were also directed by Steven Spielberg and were based on novels by Michael Crichton. The Lost World: Jurassic Park grossed over $618 million at the box office, while Jurassic Park III grossed over $368 million. Although the sequels did not perform as well as the first movie, they were still huge successes.

The Jurassic Park franchise was resurrected in 2015 with the release of Jurassic World. The movie was directed by Colin Trevorrow and starred Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. It grossed a staggering $15 billion at the box office, making it the highest-grossing movie of all time. A sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was also released in 2018 before finally providing fans with the latest installment.
