Dev Diary #3: Battle System
The latest seven-minute clip focuses on the hex-based tactical battle system in the game. Provide details on its execution of 3D battlefields, how additional allies can be granted by completing quests, and more.
The new developer blog shows off its 3D arenas, which, compared to yore’s flat battle maps, uses differing heights to create advantages for high ground attackers as well as maximum blocking line of sight. This video also explains changes such as the ability to level units so that if you become fond of them. Also, you don’t have to remove the starter troops, though elites still exist.
While this video is primarily about humans and undead, considering their vulnerability to ranged attacks making the undead likely to prevail in an archer-versus-archer battle, there are glimpses of other units such as dog combat, celestial warriors and elementals. However no sign of any sides. Magic is quickly touched on but more detail will come in a later film.
