History TV18’s show Knightfall fictionally recounts the saga of Knights Templar and the Crusades during the 14th century. The show took off on took off for its 10-episode first season in 2017’s December and its second season returned in March last year with 8 episodes. Knightfall takes a close look at the story of the most powerful and mysterious order of Middle ages, which was entrusted to protect the Holy Grail, Christianity’s most sacred relic.
Knight Templars was a religious military brotherhood established during the wars of Crusades and become a role model for other future military orders. Its popularity, wealth, and power gave rise to opposition and rival orders. The order was blamed for failures in the Crusades in the Holy Land and also falsely accused of blasphemy. For these reasons, the order was demolished by King Philip IV of France.
Cast
Tom Cullen played the fictional senior brother of the Knights Templar and Crusade warrior, Landry du Lauzon in the first two seasons. Pádraic Delaney, Ed Stoppard, Simon Merrells, Julian Ovenden, and Jim Carter also starred in the show. Mark Hamill, well-known as Luke Skywalker from the original Star Wars trilogy, joined Knightfall in the second season as a senior Templar who trained new recruits for the order at Chartes Temple. Genevieve Gaunt, Tom Forbes, and Clementine Nicholson also debuted in the second season alongside Hamill.

Updates on the third season
Here comes the bad news for the fans. A year after the second season premiered, History has officially canceled the show from being renewed for one more season. The viewership dropped to half during the second season, attracting only around 650000 viewers on average for each episode. The critics’ and viewers’ ratings dropped further with the second season, after receiving average ratings for the first season. The show producer title A+E Studios also got another History show Project Blue Book canceled, besides Knightfall.
