Law & Order Season 22: Release Date, Cast, and more!

Produced by Wolf Entertainment and created by Dick Wolf, Law & Order is an American police procedural and legal drama television series which was premiered on 13, 1990, and completed its 20th season on May 24, 2010, ten days after its initial cancellation.

On September 28, 2021, NBC announced that the series would be revived for the 21st season, which premiered on February 24, 2022. On May 10, 2022, the series was renewed by NBC for the 22nd season, which is set to premiere on September 22, 2022.

Law & Order Plot and Cast

NBC hasn’t officially released a synopsis of season 22. However, at Law & Order’s core, it is a crime procedural series. Weekly episodes are about new crimes that the detectives try to solve and suspected criminals the district attorney’s office tries to prosecute. So viewers can expect to see some thought-provoking cases with the occasional unexpected ending.

Additionally, we imagine that quite a bit of focus will be placed on Frank Cosgrove as he is now without a partner. Given how Dick Wolf’s shows tend to work, we imagine the detective won’t be “partnerless” for long.

Two of Law and Order’s original stars Sam Waterson as Jack McCoy and Camryn Manheim as Kate Dixon will be back for season 22. Apart from the legal series, Waterson has been in The Newsroom, Serial Mom, and Grace and Frankie, whereas Manheim has featured in The Practice, Person of Interest, and Stumptown, just to name a few.

They will be joined again by newcomers Jeffrey Donovan, Odelya Halevi, and Hugh Dancy. Grimm actress Claire Coffee is going to be introduced as an attorney in the next season but it isn’t known how long she will appear on Law and Order for s of yet.

Sadly, it was announced that actor Anthony Anderson would not be reprising his role as Kevin Bernard for the next series. Anderson hasn’t officially stated why he left the legal drama but it is believed it could be down to his busy work schedule. He has several projects on the go, including ABC’s Black-ish which he both stars in and is an executive producer of.

Law & Order Season 22 Release Date

Law & Order will be released on September 22, 2022, at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC. So far, a UK release date for series 22 hasn’t been announced with its 21st outing still not available to watch. But it does seem likely Law and Order will at some point air on Sky TV, much like SVU.

The drama which kick-started the franchise will be the start of Law and Order Thursdays when it does return, followed by its spin-offs Special Victims Unit and Organized Crime.
