After a long break in India since the launch of Lenovo K8 Note, Lenovo has finally launched two new smartphones smartphone in the country. One is the Lenovo K9 which focuses on Camera department while other is an entry-level budget Lenovo A5 which is targetted for those who want long-lasting battery life. Let us talk about both the phones in detail.
The Lenovo K9 comes with a typical old-fashioned Notchless design with bezels on top and bottom followed by the fingerprint scanner at the back. It comes with a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution in an 18:9 aspect ratio covered with 2.5D glass on top.
Powering the phone is the octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 processor clocked at 2.0GHZ and coupled with Imagination’s PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Further, it packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using the given hybrid microSD card slot.
For photography, the phone gets a total of four cameras, i.e. a 13MP primary shooter paired with a 5MP secondary shooter at the back, while the front houses another dual 13MP + 5MP setup for selfies, equipped with flash.
On the software front, the Lenovo K9 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Lenovo’s own custom ZUI on top. It draws its juice from a 3,000mAh battery which is lesser than the 4000mAh power cell on its predecessor.
Connectivity options like LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack, etc are present onboard.
The Lenovo A5comes with a similar Notchless design. It sports a 5.45-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) IPS LCD display in an 18:9 aspect ratio.
Powering the phone is the quad-core MediaTek MT6739 SoC clocked at up to 1.5GHz, available in 2/16GB and 3/32GB RAM and storage configurations with a MicroSD card slot for further expansion.
In the camera department, the device gets a single 13-megapixel shooter with f/2.2 aperture and auto-focus at the back while an 8-megapixel f/2.2 snapper is given at the front for Selfies.
This device too runs on custom ZUI 3.9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and grabs its juice from a larger 4,000mAh battery. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, Micro-USB port, and a 3.5mm jack.
As far as the pricing is concerned, the Lenovo K9 is priced at Rs 8,999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB internal storage and will be available in Black and Blue color options. On the other hand, the Lenovo A5 is priced in at Rs. 5,999 for the 2/16GB version followed by the higher end 3/32GB variant pitted for Rs. 6,999. Both the devices will be sold exclusively via Flipkart.
