With the Mobile World Congress 2019 happening, smartphone companies are releasing quite a lot of devices. Recently South Korean Tech giant LG Electronics has tossed their devices too. LG G8 ThinQ and LG V50 ThinQ. Among these two devices, V50 is a 5G-ready device. The first ever 5G phone by LG.
LG G8 ThinQ
The LG G8 ThinQ sports a 6.1-inch QHD+ (1440×3120 pixels) OLED FullVision panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 564ppi. It is motorized by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and coupled with 6GB of RAM. There 128GB of inbuilt storage, expandable via microSD. Discussing the Optics, The LG G8 ThinQ has triple rear camera arrangement.
This arrangement consists of a 12-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.5 aperture and 78-degree lens. A 16-megapixel super wide-angle lens with whopping 107-degree field of view with an f/1.9 aperture. Talking about the third, it is a 12-megapixel 45-degree zoom lens with an f/2.4 aperture. On the facade, the LG G8 ThinQ abides an 8-megapixel autofocus camera using a f/1.7aperture and an 80-degree lens. Time of Flight (ToF) Z Camera also take an attendance, which is pooled with infrared sensors to support Hand ID palm vein verification.
So one can show their hands to the camera to unlock. For casual users, who don’t want to be Eleven from Stranger Things, LG G8 supports Face Unlock and there is a fingerprint sensor at the back. The smartphone is backed by a 3,500mAh battery and wires Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The company has also counted in a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, totaling that the G8 ThinQ supports DTS 3D Surround Sound.
LG V50 ThinQ
To straightaway nose dive into the specifications of LG V50 ThinQ, it has a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ FullVision OLED panel with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. The 5G competence is over the endowment of the Qualcomm’s X50 modem. Just like the G8, there is 6GB of RAM and 128GB of on-boot storage. There is support for MicroSD. As for the optics, there are 5 cameras on board. On the back, there are three units, 16MP+12MP+12MP respectively.
The dual camera set up in the front for selfies comprises of an 8MP and a 5MP sensor. There is a 4,000mAh battery on board which packs the power for this device. LG has announced that the phone will be made obtainable in select markets like the US, Australia, South Korea and some countries in Europe. Not too early, but will be made available later this year.
In addition to these two phones, LG has also released one more device. The LG G8s ThinQ. This is the phone with almost the same specifications with slight tweaks here and there.
