LG V40 ThinQ confirmed to launch on Oct 3

The Korean giant LG has now officially confirmed that they will be launching the LG V40 ThinQ on 3rd of October as a successor to the LG V35 ThinQ which debuted in the market back in May. The brand has hinted the same through the press invites of the launch event.

The media invite reads LG V40 ThinQ, further mentioning the launch date and timing for the New York event. Moreover, it also mentions “Take Five” which is most probably for teasing the presence of a total of five cameras on the device which was witnessed previously in leaked renders.

The confirmation for the same also comes from a video that hints at a triple camera set up along with a blog post by the company. It is speculated that the LG V40 ThinQ will come with a total of five cameras- three at the back and two on the front, and if this turns out to be true (which we think will), the LG V40 ThinQ will become the first device to sport five shooters.

The Huawei P20 Pro was the first smartphone to come with triple rear cameras, followed by the recently launched Oppo R17 Pro and the same is speculated to be present on the upcoming OnePlus 6T. Taking the inspiration from the competitors, LG wants to offer something extra to its consumers which seems to be evident in the form of dual selfie shooters.

The triple camera setup on the device may have variations of optically stabilised telephoto, wide-angle and some other lens, most probably for Augmented Reality and stuff.

We expect the LG V40 ThinQ to come with a 6.5-inch QuadHD+ OLED panel along with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with up to 8GB of RAM in 128GB and 256GB storage variants. Being an LG flagship, a MIL-STD-810G compliant military grade build, IP68 water and dust resistance, Stereo Speakers, DTS:X Surround Sound and a HiFi Quad DAC is something we look forward to.

In addition to the New York launch on Oct 3, a secondary launch is scheduled in Seoul, South Korea, on the next day. Let’s see what actually LG is planning to do with their upcoming flagship. Till then, stay tuned.
