Loki Season 2: Release Date, Plot, and more!

Created by Michael Waldron, Loki is a television series created for Disney+. It is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and the third television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The show is a part of Phase Four of the MCU and premiered on June 9, 2021. It received positive reviews from critics who mostly praised the performances, musical scores, and visuals. The series has been renewed for another season and it is all set to release soon on Disney+.

Loki Season 2 Release Date

The makers of Loki are yet to announce an official release date for the upcoming season. Eric Martin, who wrote the first season has been hired to write Season 2.

For now, we can expect the new season to release sometime in 2023. Season 2 will also have six episodes and any other changes in the cast and crew should be revealed in the upcoming days.

Loki Plot and Cast

The first season ended with a cataclysmic event that sets up the return of the multiverse and the events of another MCU film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The impact was also seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home with heroes and villains and multiple variants of the characters making an appearance after being pulled through to the central universe by Doctor Strange when a spell goes wrong.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released on May 6, 2022, and the events of the film will surely impact the events of Loki Season 2. In the new season, Loki has to contend with Sylvie’s betrayal and the ramifications of what she did.

Since Kang is now gone, several variants would rise up and take control of the multiverse. We have already seen that happen in the Time Variance Authority following the arrival of Kang’s statue. Mobius does not remember Loki and so the latter has to deal alone with everything.

Coming to the cast, we should get to see Tom Hiddleston, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, and Sasha Lane in the lead roles. Any new additions might be revealed in the next few months.
