Heartthrob Dylan O’Brien is back in another romantic comedy! Titled Love and Monsters, the post-apocalyptic drama is all about a man living underground after the Monsterpocalypse and his attempt to reconnect with his ex-girlfriend Aimee. Sweet, isn’t it? Love and Monsters: Plot and Cast
The key to any good romance movie is the struggle that the protagonists face in getting together. Here, it seems to be more of a mortal struggle. Joel Dawson (played by Dylan O’Brien) has been living underground like the rest of humanity due to what is termed as the ‘Monsterpocalypse’. He manages to find his high school ex-girlfriend Aimee on the radio and falls in love with her again. Aimee is played by the beautiful Star Wars actress Jessica Henwick.
Lucky for her, he seems to be the romantic one true love type and battles monsters to get to her. I’m not kidding; he decides to undertake an 80-mile journey on foot just to get to her. He already missed his first chance with her when the monsters first attacked. After witnessing his parents’ murder, he ended up losing his heart. But Aimee awakened it again and he isn’t the type to let go of a connection in a lonely world.
Due to frequent comic relief and lighthearted moments, the movie keeps itself from becoming too dark. A true blessing of cheer during the time of the COVID-19 crisis!
Love and Monsters: Release Date and Trailer
The movie was originally supposed to be released on April 17, 2020, but got delayed to February 12, 2021, due to the COVID-19 crisis. However, the producers decided to release it as a video on demand instead of going for a theatrical release! It will now be preponed to October 16, 2o20! Hurrah!
