Lucifer Season 6 On Thin Ice over Tom Ellis Contract Dispute

The sixth installment of Urban Fantasy Lucifer is said to be on thin ice due to reported brewing differences between the lead Tom Ellis and Warner Bros. TV. Reports have claimed that this is caused by the demand for pay hike by Ellis which is deemed unreasonable by the producers.

Lucifer: Overview

Lucifer was a pleasant surprise when it premiered in 2015, featuring a wonderfully charismatic central performance from Ellis as the narrative of the first fallen blessed messenger. Exhausted and miserable as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar has surrendered his honored position and resigned to the City of Angels, where he possesses an upscale piano bar called Lux. Lucifer is making the most of his retirement and enjoying a couple of his preferred things – wine, ladies and well, music – when a pop star is ruthlessly killed outside of Lux. Lucifer then decides to invest his talents to collaborate with LAPD on yet another adventure to see if there’s hope for humanity after all.

The Road Ahead

Lucifer doesn’t seem to have lost the heat from hell after all. The TV series gradually managed to increase the likeability for the show along with the critical acclaim since inception. There is no official announcement of the sixth season as such but in March 2020, Tom Ellis and other stars of the show were reported to have signed up for it to be produced by Netflix and Warner Bros. Looking at the facts, being the lead in a relatively successfully TV Show like Lucifer does keep leverage on your side for the contract negotiations. On the other hand, the producers are the ones calling the shots and can toss the whole idea of the sixth season altogether as this will not be the first time for Lucifer and anyway it was supposed to be wrapped by Lucifer season 5. That gives us a lot of ifs and buts to ponder upon.
