Meet Germany’s self-made and gifted, DJ Kaito

One needs a lot of courage and guts to stand out in front of a huge mass when you have no prior formal training in your field. And it is no short of a miracle when you come out of the bubble brilliantly, shining like a star. It is definitely not easy to create a string of tunes placed together and make people grove to it. But luck cast it’s spell on German’s DJ Kaito, a.k.a Simon Bohnsack. Kaito owes his name to Kaito KID from the Detective Conan. He started crafting music since his pre-teen years, but the journey started with a rough patch, tagged with constant bullying and objections from others, but giving up was not on his list. His last album Signal Kommt took off in the US more than in Germany and the motivation to make music changed. Before that, it was an “I want to prove that all of the people are wrong” now its “I want to show the people my style of music”, and that’s when everything took sky-rocketing. Kaito already lived out his creative musical side in childhood. He played mandolin, harmonica, and piano at the age of 12. Quite an enriching time. In addition to his passion for music, Kaito also discovered many other hobbies such as cycling, dancing, swimming, skating, and painting.

Talking about his genre of music, DJ Kaito’s inspiration had been Kilez More, for the style Truthrap, which is basically telling true stories, sometimes politics, sometimes others, and prove that with facts. Kilez is an absolute oracle of the said genre, and it’s his own creation. Along with Truthrap, Kaito’s other style is RST, which is again nonsense style with syllables without sense. Pal created this back in 2013 and it’s part of his albums and live performances since then, “Its the thing that I thought about K/J-Pop listeners that they only like the music because of the sound and this is my answer to that.” Recently this style was made popular by the German YouTuber Tanzverbot who made some tracks in this RST Style.

Even though Kaito’s life had been entangled with music, but the business world was also a part of his life. After finishing secondary school he went to a business school and trained as an IT specialist for system integration. From 2016 till 2019 he was training as a retail salesman at a large bicycle company. His love of music prompted him to use the YouTube platform for himself in 2011 and try it out for himself. For this reason, he took over the channel “superconan4ever” (today: “Vier Sterne Deluxe”) from a friend.

The year 2021 was supposed to be the year of his Europe musical tour (Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, and the UK) but thanks to the pandemic that the plan had been canceled. But he always thinks of a way out, and thus decided to release 12 singles for 12 months. He might also remake the old song. All of this Plan B was made possible due to the new contract of the Lable Vier Sterne Deluxe Records with Ditto Music. But rewinding the timeline a little bit, at the end of 2011, he also founded the music project Vier Sterne Deluxe with his colleague and friend DJ Sheldon, which has been released to this day with the alternating cast, two albums, and two EPs. In 2013 Simon released the concept mixtape Das Vermächniss der RST which consists of syllables without meaning. In 2015 the RST music video Don’t wanna be a Quader from the Best of Album Best of DJK became a viral hit. In May 2016 it was the time after months of work. Hamburg, Braunschweig, Düsseldorf, and Hanover were the stops on the “Mahnwachen Tour 2016“. One year later, the “STOPP RAMSTEIN Tour“, which was also advertised on TV, continued the success of the tour.

In the same year, the album #LightningQuader appeared with a big promotion. It is still one of his most successful albums. After the big success of #LightningQuader, DJ Kaito strikes back with Signal Kommt. Like the previous album it includes many political songs like #Truthrap with the rapper Sintakk from Berlin, a few RST tracks with Si-To MC that releases his second album BLACK earlier this year, or personal songs like the second part of the Abrechnung series. Together with well-known Beat artists like Mixla Productions or Legio Beats this album was made possible. DJ Moesql and GrvMUSIC4you are also part of the beat team behind this album.

One would be thrilled to know that DJ Kaito is also a part of the queer community. Back in 2018, he came out as a pansexual and was ready to express himself more fully. But he thought that it’s time he should know himself a bit more and took time off from the chaotic world. Despite this, he still appeared on the 4th Nationwide vigil in Berlin with greats such as The Bandwidth, Ukavalli, or even Kilez More.

Nevertheless, DJ Kaito conveys a heartfelt thanks to all his fans and keeps on having faith in him for almost a decade. And shares a piece of advice with each and every one-

Just do your thing. Even when it looks like that you are the laughing stock, but pull the plug when you can’t handle the situation anymore. But start an apprenticeship or work beside your dream, just because to have a second food on the ground when it all doesn’t go that good as expected and when it takes off, don’t spend all that money, just save most of that for bad days.

Quite a life-changing advice, huh?
