Michelle Obama’s documentary ‘Becoming’ releasing on Netflix in May

Michelle Obama announced on May 27 that Netflix will release a documentary featuring her experiences after her memoir ‘Becoming’ got published. The documentary is directed by Nadia Hallgren and will release on May 6. The film is the third joint production between Netflix and Higher Ground Productions, Obama’s production company. Former US first lady’s tweet read, “I’m excited to share that on May 6, Netflix will release BECOMING, a documentary directed by Nadia Hallgren that shares the stories of the amazing people I met after the release of my memoir. During this difficult time, I hope you’ll find some inspiration and joy in this film.”

Michelle Obama’s critically acclaimed memoir, Becoming: A Guided Journal for Discovering Your Voice was out in November 2018 . The memoir is an inspiring account Obama’s journey amidst all the obstacles that she tackled despite of all the odds against her and her family. The audiobook of the memoir has won Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album.

Michelle Obama was notably the first African-American to become the First Lady of the United States. She has become a global icon for the healthy empowerment of the voice and position of women and girls. She firmly stood by her husband, former US President Barack Obama, during one of the most difficult crisis of the United States history when he was in-charge as the President.

The first look trailer Becoming: In Conversation with Michelle Obama was out on 27^th April. It showed Obama interacting with a small group of black young girls at the African American Museum in Philadelphia.
