Motorola Razr foldable smartphone’s features revealed, dual display in tow

Published

Motorola is already known to be working on a foldable smartphone that will be released as the new-generation Moto Razr. The iconic smartphone is designed as a futuristic piece of hardware. Previously, there have been schematics hinting how the smartphone will look in real life.

Now the folks at XDA developers have procured some new information of the upcoming smartphone. The Moto Razr is revealed to come with a secondary display that will not give access to all the Android features. Only a handful of apps like Moto Display, Moto Actions, and Moto Camera will be allowed access.

The device when unfolded, the secondary display can act as a trackpad to scroll through pages in Chrome. The devs are working to apply this feature in other apps as well. The screen will show up 6 options in quick settings, but their names are still a mystery.

The handset’s main camera can be used for multiple purposes. It can take selfies while the secondary display acts as a viewfinder and the main screen will click the image with a tap. The external display will show information like time, notifications and media buttons. We can’t wait to hear what other features Moto Razr will have with the secondary display.

Motorola received a patent on the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in January 2019. The patent described a foldable smartphone which revealed what a foldable smartphone would look like from the company. The design also had the iconic Moto Razr hinge.

The Motorola Razr 2019 3D renders show how the smartphone will look like if the company decides to go forward with it. The flexible folding display will stretch from top to bottom with a 19:8 aspect ratio. There is a secondary display at the rear and a single sensor on the upper half. The volume bottom is missing from the patent images which may suggest pressure sensors or Motorola left it out of the renders for now.
