A good movie will always impact everyone’s life. We will keep the piece of art forever locked in our hearts and wish that we could un-see it all and experience the awe and excitement all over again. Such was the 2020 Oscar and 92nd Annual Academy Awards winning movie Parasite, the first South Korean film to gain international acknowledgment and global limelight.
Directed by Bong Joon Ho and co-written by Han Jin-won, the black comedy social thriller deals with the Kim family and the four members, Ki-taek, Chung-sook, Ki-jung and Ki-woo, who lives in a semi-basement apartment and struggles to meet their ends. As Min-hyuk, Ki-woo’s friend leaves for abroad, he passes on the job of tutoring the daughter of the wealthy Park family, Da-hye. Greed and class discrimination threatens the newly formed symbiotic relationship between wealthy Parks and the Kims.
Good news for the fans. The movie pulled the spotlight on them and called the attention of the HBO. It is being heard that the movie will turn into a mini-series on HBO, keeping the theme intact but the timing will be stretched for the sake of the series, more like a 6-hour movie. Adam McKay is taking the lead and the language might be English this time. The details have not been revealed though, but what excites the fans is the addition of the new spice like the blooming new relationships and the unveiling of new mysteries. Their expectations are kind of set high. We have our hopes pinned on the director and the producer. Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bad Boys, Jack Ryan, etc were such movies which were turned into mini-series.
Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik, Park So-dam, Lee Jung-eun, Jang Hye-jin, Park Myung-hoon, Jung Ji-so, Jung Hyeon-jun and Park Seo-joon stars in the film.
It is heard that Mark Ruffalo is going to be a part of the series. Isn’t that exciting?
