MST3K is a blessing for a sci-fi freak with a pinch of comedy genre in it. Created by Joel Hodgson, MST3K is an American series. It has shifted from networks to networks and still has successfully completed its 12 seasons.
But, Is season 13 happening? We’ve got the answer for you. And here it is.
Is the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 season 13 not happening?
Mystery Science Theatre 3000 (MST3K) has gone through many struggles in all these years. Right from its start On November 24, 1988. To getting canceled in 1996 even after running for successful seven seasons.
And to then shifting network from Comedy Central to The Sci-Fi Channel. And airing for again three seasons until the show was again canceled in August 1999.

Even after being canceled umpteen times, the show made its comeback on Netflix with season eleven and twelve, on April 14, 2017, and November 22, 2018, respectively.
Hence, we feel terrible to break the news to you, however, season 13 is not happening. It was 2019 when Netflix officially declared the future of the sci-fi comedy. And they announced that it wouldn’t be renewing the show anymore.
Every fan heart was broken by listening to this news. Hence, season 13 of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 will not be happening.
Notwithstanding the reviews and viewership of the show, and even after being so popular among the sci-fi fans, Netflix decided to cancel the show another season.
The creators have also confirmed the news by officially making a statement about the cancellation of the show:
“As some of you might have imagined, we won’t be making new seasons of the show for Netflix. However, I require you to understand that we’ve had a wonderful time operating with the Netflix team, and will forever be grateful to them.”
What will happen to the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 then?
You might be thinking the show is canceled and hence the question is unnecessary to ask. However, that’s not the full story. Because the show is still happening. But just history is repeating.

As we all know, Mystery Science Theatre 3000 has a history of shifting and canceling. And so it will happen again now. Netflix indeed had canceled the show for its season 13.
But, before you take anything into consideration, you must know that the show is happening for its season 13, just not on Netflix. The creators of MST3K believe in “The show must go on!” phrase. And hence, it indeed will be happening. So, fans’ hearts will not be broken completely now. Because not on Netflix, but we sure will able to watch the show on some other platform.
However, it looks like the streaming channel or platform hasn’t decided yet what the channel network will it be.
The creators officially announced in a statement about the very fact:
“If you didn’t understand the backer update, I declared today that #MST3K is not doing a third season for Netflix. It’s not the Conclusion of MST3K. It’s just the finish of the first chapter of bringing back MST3K.”
