National Treasure 3 in works by Disney

Looks like Declaration of Independence will be stolen again. Just kidding. Although it is not confirmed if the Declaration of Independence will be stolen or not. But there are reports that the third installment of National Treasure will return after a long hiatus.

National Treasure franchise is an adventure mystery film series produced by Jerry Bruckheimer for Disney. The film revolves around Benjamin Gate and his adventures to find hidden American treasures of national importance. The first film in the franchise was released in 2004 followed by the second installment in 2007. The original cast of franchises included Nicolas Gate, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel, Diane Kruger, and Justin Bartha.

What is the status of National Treasure 3?

The producer Jerry Bruckheimer was planning for a third installment since way back in 2007-08 period. But things did not go as planned.

Disney chief Bob Iger addressed the prospects for “National Treasure 3” and said that ” I know that Jerry Bruckheimer who produced National Treasure 1 And 2 would like to make a third movie and I know that discussions about that film have gone on, probably since 2016, with our studio, but I know that they have not greenlit such a film”.

He also added that “They have talked about a number of different possibilities both on the creative side and from a timing perspective and I just don’t have anything to announce, though I did speak with Mr. Bruckheimer not long ago about it and I know his passion for that franchise remains pretty strong. We love those first two films too, but we’re not quite there yet.”

But now Chris Bremmer has been appointed to write the script for National Treasure 3. This definitely points to the fact that the film is in the early stages of development and a third season is now confirmed.

There is no news about the cast of the upcoming movie. Nicolas Cage may or may return as the protagonist, fans will have to wait to find it out.
