Created by Christopher Silber, Jan Nash, and Matt Bosack, NCIS: Hawai’i is a police procedural television series and is a spin-off of the long-running series NCIS. The series first premiered on CBS on September 20, 2021, and is the fourth series in the NCIS franchise.
Christopher Silber, Nash, and Bosack are also the executive producers alongside Larry Teng. The title of the show contains an ‘okina, which is part of the spelling said to be preferred by the Hawaiians. The series received generally positive reviews from critics and has been already renewed for a second season.

NCIS Hawai’i Plot and Cast
Unlike its predecessor, NCIS: Hawai’i’s first season didn’t end on a cliffhanger. Everything was just peachy as the season closed on a big party that Jane Tennant had thrown for her colleagues and their families. Lucy and Whistler were together, Kai and his father were on good terms, and Tennant had a budding romance of her own with Captain Joe Milius. With all the plot points seemingly resolved, there’s only room to speculate on what Season 2 will cover.
Perhaps Lucy and Whistler will find some bumps in the road, but it still looks like they will be the series’ marquee couple, so they’re probably together for the long haul. However, the future is less hopeful for Tennant and Milius. The captain was ordered back to the Pentagon for a new mission, so if he and Tennant were to have a relationship, it would have to be long-distance. When asked about the pairing, Vanessa Lachey told PopCulture.com, “I will say we started filming Season 2 and there are some sparks and it may or may not be [with] Milius. But you won’t be disappointed. That I can promise.”
Now talking about the cast includes Vanessa Lachey is back as Jane Tennant, Noah Mills plays Jesse Boone, Yasmine Al-Bustami as Lucy Tara, Alex Tarrant as Kai Holman, and Jason Antoon as computer specialist Ernie Malik.
We will also get to see Tori Anderson as FBI agent Kate Whistler. Mahina Napoleon is also returning as Julie Tennant in a recurring role, while the actress can next be seen in Tales of the Walking Dead on AMC.
NCIS Hawai’i Season 2 Release Date
NCIS: Hawai’i premiered in September 2021 and it was renewed for a second season the following month. The new season is scheduled to premiere on September 19, 2022, at 10:00 p.m.
The new season might consist of 22 episodes like the first season but an official announcement is still awaited. Further details related to the second season are yet to be revealed by the makers.
