NCIS Season 20: Release Date, Plot and more!

Created by Donald P. Bellisario and Don McGill, NCIS is an American police procedural television series, revolving around a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service combining elements of the military drama and police procedural genres. The concept and characters were initially introduced in two episodes of the CBS series JAG.

The series finished its tenth season as the most-watched television series in the U.S. during the 2012–13 network television season. On April 15, 2021, NCIS was renewed for a nineteenth season, which premiered on September 20, 2021, with its next spin-off, NCIS: Hawaiʻi. On March 31, 2022, NCIS was renewed for a twentieth season.

NCIS Plot and Cast

It’s tricky to predict what may happen in season 20 until season 19 comes to a close in the spring of 2022. Season 18 finished on a cliffhanger with Gibbs almost killed in a boat explosion and a serial killer on the loose. However, it’s fair to say that in season 20 we’ll learn more about recruit Alden Parker, who has taken over Gibbs’ senior role.

In an interview with TV Insider for season 19, Gary Cole spoke about his character and said: “Parker isn’t overly chatty, but he is more verbal. He’s not as old school; he tries to get his hands on new tech gadgets and impress everybody. He’s trying to fit in with the rest of the team. Although he may be reluctant to voice it, he admires that Gibbs breaks rules. Parker bends them. We’ll see if it gets to the point of breaking.

The cast members of the previous season are expected to reprise their roles. This includes Timothy McGee, Leon Vance, Nick Torres, Dr Donald Mallard, Dr Jimmy Palmer, Kasie Hines, and Jess Knight.

NCIS Season 20 Release Date

After more than two months of wait, the network has officially confirmed that the series will return this year by disclosing that NCIS Season 20 will be premiering new episodes on Monday, September 19, 2022.

NCIS has passed 430 episodes so far, so Season 20 should include the show’s 450th episode. Further details about Season 20 are expected to be revealed in the next few months.
