The concept and characters were initially introduced in two episodes of the CBS series JAG.
The series finished its tenth season as the most-watched television series in the U.S. during the 2012–13 network television season. NCIS Plot and Cast
The basic premise of the show follows a fictional team of special agents of the Major Case Response Team from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. It is very hard to predict any certain storyline for the upcoming season since the 20th season has not concluded yet. For now, we can speculate that the 21st season will pick up the story from where the 20th season will leave off the story.

The first season of the show was released on September 23, 2003, and consisted of 23 episodes. It received positive responses from critics and audiences and considering that, the makers have renewed the show for several seasons and the latest season is still ongoing.
