Need for Speed Heat

Need for Speed Heat is a racing game created by Ghost Games and released for Windows by EA, PS4, and Xbox One. It is the 24th installment in the sequence Need for Speed and celebrates the 25th anniversary of the franchise. It was published on 8 November 2019. The game got critics with mixed feedback.

About the Game

Need for Speed Heat is a driving game set in an open-world setting called Palm City, a fictitious version of Miami City, Florida, and its surroundings. The in-game map is geographically diverse, including mountain terrain. Unlike Need for Speed Payback, a 24hr day-night process is not included in the game but players can switch from day tonight.

The game includes 127 cars from 33 suppliers, with Ferrari getting back into the game owing to copyright issues after being unavailable from Payback. Unlike Payback, performance improvements are no longer available in random Speedcards but are unlocked by gaining REP and race wins.

The game won’t include loot boxes. However, time savers are included, which will show souvenirs on the map, and paying for downloadable content.

Electronic Arts launched the NFS Heat Studio software on iOS and Android smartphones. Users can unlock and modify their cars that can be imported into the main game on download.

Cross-play Introduction

On June 8, 2020, it was revealed that the game will feature cross-platform support beginning on June 9 as part of the final game patch.

EA is finally plunging its toes into the cross-platform gaming world. It will allow for cross-play in NFS Heat on June 9. This is the first EA title to implement the feature, that will allow players to play together on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Webster said since the game was launched last year. The group has been paying attention to what gamers love about the game and also what they think could make it better. He said to keep a close eye out at EA Play Live on June 18 for more Need for Speed updates.

Criterion Games is turning their focus to the next NFS title. The latest patch may be the last upgrade for NFS Heat to reach the EA Access on June 16th. EA’s game display will occur on June 18th. One can expect to know more about the future of Need For Speed. Also the passion of the developer for Steam during EA Play.

More Details

After the update has been installed, gamers will have to opt-in to cross-play. Doing so, players will scan for mates who have also decided to opt-in to cross-play on any device. After becoming mates, gamers can use the latest EA Friends on the menu settings to see who’s online and ready to play.

Developer Criterion, an expert on the Burnout franchise, modified the game with various free and paid content, from new vehicles and obstacles to cosmetic customizations and more. Now, that assistance is nearing its end, not before Need for Speed Heat reinforces its place in history by becoming the first title with full crossplay support from Electronic Arts.

Evermore games have acquired cross-platform play. Sony finally softened its PS4 cross-play constraints in 2018. It is clear that EA is interested in allowing more players to compete for their games together. So it remains to be seen whether they will switch to cross-play in the games like Madden, FIFA, and Apex Legends.

Need for Speed Heat has recently been added to Steam with several other EA titles. The game will be introduced to EA Access and Origin Access Simple Vault on June 16.
